FRANCE is located in Western Europe and is part of the wine belt, which includes the major wine-growing regions in the world. The country is blessed with renowned wine regions that are spread across the country and known for specific grape varieties that are grown in the area’s unique soil and climate conditions.

BURGUNDY (Bourgogne), one of the 16 wine regions of France, is located in the eastern part of the country and known for its wonderful terroir which allows Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes varieties to grow in harmony and give their best to create great wines. The region has 84 appellations spread over 6 different subregions such as Chablis and the Grand Auxerrois, the Côte de Nuits and the Hautes Côtes de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune and the Hautes Côtes de Beaune, the Côte Chalonnaise and the Couchois, the Mâconnais and the Châtillonnais.

CÔTE DE NUITS , one of the 6 subregions in Burgundy wine region of France, is located in the northern part of the Côte d’Or and extends from Dijon to just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges. This prestigious vineyard is home to 24 of Burgundy’s 33 grand crus. It produces mostly red wines made from Pinot Noir grapes, although some white wines are also produced. The Côte de Nuits consists of eight designated villages: Chambolle-Musigny, Fixin, Gevrey-Chambertin, Marsannay, Morey-Saint-Denis, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, and Vougeot.

NUITS SAINT GEORGES is a town and village appellation of the Côtes de Nuits, which also includes the commune of Premeaux-Prissey in the AOC. The vineyard is mostly planted with Pinot Noir, and comprises 41 Premiers Crus climats. A small portion of Chardonnay is also produced.

The wine #inmyglass is made by #DomaineChevillonChezeaux using 100% Pinot Noir from 60 year old vines planted in the northern part of the vineyard on soils composed of silt and gravel , resulting in the wonderful wine that I have #inmyglass 🍷

The flavors of Pork TenderloinI In Mushroom Sauce complemented the Nuits Saint Georges 2015 of Domaine Chevillon Chezeau very well.

ITALY is a peninsula in southwestern Europe, where its 20 administrative regions correspond to its 20 wine regions, each with its own climate, geography, grape varieties, and style of wines. Some of the most important wine regions in the country are Campania, Sicily, Tuscany, Veneto, and Piedmont.

PIEDMONT, in the northwest corner of Italy, is one of the most important and prestigious wine regions in the country, with a long and rich history of viticulture and winemaking. It covers 48000 hectares, spread over 17 DOCG and 42 DOC zones in five different subregions: Canavese, Alto Piemonte, Monferrato, Roero, and Langhe.

LANGHE, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2014, is a hilly and foggy area, with calcareous-clayey soils that give complexity and structure to the wines. Its continental climate on the other hand, favors the perfect development of its many grape varieties, such as Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato Bianco, Arneis, among others, and allow excellent ripening of late grapes varieties such as Nebbiolo, the king of Langhe grapes. Langhe DOC covers a wide area of Piedmont and allows for more flexibility and experimentation than the stricter DOCG appellations. The region also includes several DOCG appellations for specific wines that have higher quality standards and more restricted production zones , they are : Barolo, Barbaresco, Asti Spumante, Moscato d’Asti, Dogliani Superiore, Gavi, Nizza, Roero.

BARBARESCO DOCG covers 760 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Barbaresco, Neive, Treiso and San Rocco. The area is divided into 66 menzioni geografiche aggiuntive (MeGAs) that indicates specific subzones. Barbaresco wines are made using 100% Nebbiolo grape, the only allowed in the appellation, and must age minimum 26 months, including 9 months in barrel, and a minimum of 50 months, including 9 months in barrel for Riserva wines.

The wine #inmyglass is produced by Bonfante & Chiarle , a family-owned winery, using 100% Nebbiolo grapes from its vineyards in Treiso, following the winemaking tradition of their ancestors to put a superb Barbaresco #inyourglass .

Duck in mushroom sauce was great with the intensity of the wine. Salute🍷

BODEGAS ZINIO Street Art Collection

SPAIN is a country with a rich and diverse wine culture, producing wines in each of its 17 autonomous communities, from different grape varieties, climates and terroirs. Its vineyard spreads over 68 DO (appellation of origin), 2 DOCa ( (qualified appellation of origin), 7 VC (quality wine) and 20 Vinos de Pago. DOCa stands for Denominación de Origen Calificada, which is the highest category in Spanish wine regulations. There are only two wine regions in Spain that have achieved DOCa status: Rioja and Priorat

RIOJA , the oldest and most prestigious appellation in Spain, and the first to earn DOCa status, is located in the north of the country, covering more than 65000 hectares of vineyards, on both sides of the River Ebro. It comprises three well defined subregions, Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Oriental, spanning part of three autonomous communities: The northern part of LA RIOJA, the southernmost part of NAVARRA, and the province of Alava in PAIS VASCO.The main grape varieties used in DOCa Rioja are Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo for red wines, and Viura, Malvasia and Garnacha Blanca for white wines.

RIOJA ALTA is a sub-region of Rioja DOCa that occupies the westernmost part of the wine region. It has an Atlantic climate and a variety of soils, mainly clay-limestone, ferrous-clay and alluvial. It produces elegant and complex red wines from Tempranillo grapes, which are often aged in oak barrels. The aging requirements vary depending on the wine style and region, but the most common terms are Crianza, aged for at least two years, with at least one year in oak barrels; Reserva, aged for at least two years, with at least one year in oak barrels, and Gran Reserva, aged for at least five years, with at least two years in oak barrels.

The wine #inmyglass is 95% Tempranillo and 5% Graciano. It comes from an amazing project between Maria Martinez, the winemaker of Bodegas Zinio located in Uruñuela, Rioja Alta, and Norrel Robertson, Master of Wine. They were inspired by the social and artistic movement of the Meninas in Galicia, and applied it in La Rioja, for the remodeling of the facade of surrounding villages using the proceeds from the sale of this wine created by them with a different style of Rioja , a much fresher wine using the same quality of grapes that normally go to wines for aging but without any wood in its production to put the essence of #tempranillo and #graciano #inyourglass 🍷

Great with Lamb Chops with garlic and herbs

Salud 🍷

Here’s what was #inmyglass :

CHILE stretches along the Pacific coast of South America for more than 4200 Km with an average width of only 170 Km, where it’s possible to find from west to east, a relief made up of four units: coastal plains, Cordillera de la Costa (Chilean Coastal Range), intermediate depression and Andes Mountain range. Its vineyards are mainly located between 30 and 40 degrees latitude south, giving rise to 6 well-defined wine regions. They are, from north to south, Atacama, Coquimbo, Aconcagua, Valle Central, Region Sur y Región Austral, which are further divided into sub-regions.

VALLE CENTRAL is a narrow plain with minor valleys, flanked to the east by the Andes Mountain Range and to the west by the Coastal Range. It is divided into 4 sub-regions, Maipo Valley, Rapel Valley, Curicó Valley and Maule Valley.

VALLE DE MAIPO (Maipo Valley) is one of Chile’s most renowned wine regions. Its vineyards are privileged with a mild Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and cold, wet winters. The main variety planted is Cabernet Sauvignon. Other red varieties that thrive in the valley are Merlot, Syrah, Carménère and Cabernet Franc The region can be separated into three broad areas: Alto Maipo, Central Maipo and Maipo Bajo.

ALTO MAIPO is the most prestigious of the viticultural areas. It encompasses the subregions of Puente Alto and Pirque

CONCHA Y TORO is located in the prestigious and beautiful wine region of Maipo Valley, located just one hour from Santiago, the capital and largest city in Chile. Its history begins in 1883 with the founder’s (Melchor Concha y Toro) dream to create the best wines. With this goal in mind, he brought vines from Bordeaux and made his dream come true.

LEBANON, ancient Phoenicia, is located in the Middle East, open to the Mediterranean Sea to the west, surrounded by Syria to the north and east, and shares a border with Israel to the south.

Inherited from their Phoenician ancestors, the Lebanese people, in addition to being excellent sailors, merchants at heart and very resourceful, are excellent winemakers, who have a 5000 year history of wine production.

BEKAA VALLEY is the main wine region of Lebanon , located at an altitude between 900 and 1100 m., where the vine benefits from optimal conditions for its development, such as climate and natural richness of soils. Most of the quality wines are produced in the central area, on shallow, stony terra rossa soils, with temperatures relatively cool at night, allowing a good concentration thus a good quality of grapes.

The Lebanese grape varieties reflect the history of the country, since the very beginning the grapes have been constantly renewed, from indigenous ones to the French .

CHATEAU KSARA, the oldest in production in Lebanon was founded in 1857 in the Bekaa Valley by Jesuit priests who remained at the head of the domain until 1973 when it was sold to a group of Lebanese businessmen on the eve of the war, during which the estate continued to produce.

Since 1994, the French oenologist James Palgé, who had worked at Chateau Prieuré-Lichine, in Margaux, is in charge as winemaker.

Today , the property owns 10 vineyards, covering about 450 hectares, planted mostly with French varieties

The wine #inmyglass “Le Souverain” , the signature wine of Château Ksara, created to celebrate its 160th anniversary in 2017, is a blend of Marselan 50% (Cabernet-Sauvignon /Grenache Noir) and Arinarnoa 50% ( Tannat /Cabernet-Sauvignon), sourced from the best clay and limestone, stony soils from the heart of Bekaa Valley to pour the best #inyourglass

VENETO , located in north-eastern Italy, is one of the 20 administrative regions of Italy, which is the same as saying one of the 20 wine regions, because they all produce wine. Veneto, like Tuscany and Piedmont is a massive wine producing region and so therefore it has many appellations, 17 DOCG and 30 DOC

VALPOLICELLA , one of Veneto sub-regions , is the most important wine producing area, from soft and approachable wines labeled with the broad Valpolicella DOC to the rich and concentrated Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG.
Valpolicella DOC is typically made with 3 blended grapes: Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara and they don’t use appassimento (air-dried grapes) to make this wine.
Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG is made with Corvina and Rondinella and they use appassimento to make this wine, it is made with 100% air-dried grapes.

RIPASSO della Valpolicella DOC, aka “baby Amarone” or “little Amarone” is sort of the best of the two worlds. They take the Valpolicella wine and pass it through the leftovers air-dried grapes that were used to make the Amarone, causing a second fermentation, the resulting wine is richer than the Valpolicella but less powerful than the Amarone.

The wine #inmyglass Le Crosare Valpolicella Ripasso 2015 is produced by Cantine Lenotti on the banks of Lake Garda, an important zone for vine growing, characterized by wonderful vineyards and olive-groves.
It is made of Corvina 70%, Rondinella 25% and Molinara 5%, sourced from calcareous and argillaceous soils of glacial and alluvial origins. The first fermentation from fresh grapes takes place in October, the second one in February-March of the following year with the skins of the Amarone which are mixed with the young wine and fermented, then the wine is aged in oak barrels for a year.

It was great with Tagliatelle al Ragù alla Bolognese

Happy #MalbecWorldDay 🍷🍷

CAHORS is a beautiful medieval city of the South West of France, where Malbec Aka Côt originated from the spontaneous crossing between Prunelard and Magdeleine Noire des Charentes (the mother of Merlot). Since 1152 with the marriage of Eleanor of Aquitaine to Henry ll, king of England, “The Black Wine of Cahors” knew a considerable development, it was quoted on the market of London, it travelled in all Europe. The vineyard of Cahors attained almost 80.000 hectares. Unfortunately, in 1880, the phylloxera epidemic destroyed almost the entire vineyard.

Fortunately in 1868 the French Agronomist Michel Pouget introduced this variety in Argentina

MENDOZA is a province of Argentina in the western central part of the country in the Cuyo region , where Malbec has found a second home since the 19th century, becoming the flagship variety of Argentina and the one that best represents the local palate. It leads the national production of Malbec with 36.585 cultivated ha

Spread over 45 communes, the vineyard of Cahors covers today 4200 ha

As Bertrand Vigouroux says, Malbec is a grape variety that is naturally balanced in both terroirs. It may have a different aromatic power, different aromatic subtleties, more like prunes in Argentina, more like blackcurrants in Cahors, but when we taste a glass of great Malbec, whether in the southern hemisphere or in the northern hemisphere, we feel this proximity, this common framework that exists between the two terroirs.

The AOC Côtes du Rhône Villages spreads over 95 communes in the Southern Rhône, of which 21 commune names can be used on the label.

Séguret is one of the 21. It is situated at the foot of the “Dentelles de Montmirail” in the French Department of the Vaucluse. Built into a hillside, it is one of France’s most beautiful listed villages.

Domaine Eyguestre is nestled in the heights of Séguret. It is an amazing 20 ha family owned vineyard certified High Environmental Value ( HEV ), where the world of the vine is a passion. In Provençal Eyguestre means “the water that remains”, a revealing name for this terroir composed of blue clays that are filled with water for the vines. Four generations have proudly worked this soil since 1919. Laurent Bellion took over the running of the domain in 2000 and have since been in charge delivering himself in his wines (whites, reds and rosés ) which are the reflection of his character, for which he has been rewarded by receiving many recognitions.

The vineyard is surrounded by 300 olive trees, he makes his own olive oil that you can taste after having a very nice wine tasting.

The wine #inmyglass, Domaine Eyguestre, Le Maupas 2018 is made of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah and reflects the freshness given by the presence of “ eyguestre “ in the soil, a wine that can satisfy a lot of different palates, wine connoisseurs and neophytes alike.
